The Falls of Clyde - the Iron Hull

The frame parts consist of four lengths of angle brass provided with rivet heads on both the inside surfaces - cut to length with the guillotine - together with a ‘Floor’ plate, machined to shape with the guide of a steel master pattern, as also the ‘Bilge Keelson’ plates. The Floor plates are provided with rivet heads on both edges, but on opposite sides, then annealed and the ends bent to match the curve of the frame pattern.  The Floor plates, as also the Bilge Keelson plates are slotted - not in normal practice - so  they can be assembled egg box fashion, to assist in locating the parts in the final assembly.
